02/02/2012

I know we have been very naughty of late without adding new products or sending out newsletters for Dec & Jan and although we have good reason we feel we should still apologise. So we are truly sorry folks!

However there really was a good reason, just trust us on this one. We’ve decided to re-jig the website, change product formats and generally give ourselves a shake down. The poor ‘Major’ wants to spread his creative wings a little more so has decided to create unique one off pieces for sale including bits of scenery and accessories. As we could not show you the vast array of options available without getting an order for a custom piece we thought “What’s stopping us from doing them anyway” and the answer came back from on high “Nothing!”.

So after creating a beautiful set of boards for a customer complete with jetty, boat and river we felt that we should let the Major burrow away in his bunker and create some unique pieces. Having never made anything sci fi we feel this would be a good starting block with some historical Battleboards thrown in for good measure.

Please accept our apologies for not getting in contact sooner but please bear with us whilst we make some changes and get our creative hats on.

23/11/2011

No I’m not referring to my waistline, I wish, but instead to some of our water feature stock boards. We had some images of lake boards and river section boards that we had made previously some time ago. The plan was to release the cracked plain board first and over time release the lake and river boards. What we were surprised to find is that the cracked plain boards were so versatile we could recreate any style of boards from them. We could literally carve roads, rivers, lakes into the boards or add hills, rocks or other features, there were so many possibilities.

We made the decision therefore that it would be better to make each board with a feature such as a river or road so that every one was individual. We would never have customers pitching up together with identical boards and we could also make some unique pieces for the same cost as the pre-cast feature boards.

So if you want a lake or river section we will be bringing some out over time or just get in contact with us.

10/10/11

Thought I’d better explain costs as I know how hard it can be buying on-line when you cannot see something in the flesh which is always a risk.

The boards are expensive, BUT they are almost bullet proof! You can actually stand on these and not damage them because they are not made from polystyrene so the quality would be almost impossible to replicate. They are still made of a foam however so have a soft enough surface not to damage your paint work and you can also screw in trees and unscrew them should you want to remove them.

We decided to go for a high end product that would really last so the manufacture costs are very high and was a risk we decided to take. We were originally making them from polystyrene but they would get damaged and we wanted to make something that was durable and that you could not make at home so this was the end result.

Each board is hand finished and made from dense polyurethane foam which due to the size is a lot of foam. Usually Pu foam accessories from around 200mm square would retail for £20-30 and the boards are approx 6 x the amount of foam so the costs are high to manufacture.

Each set of boards comes with a sturdy box with carrying handle so you can transport them easily and a bag of matching flock. I appreciate the fact that these are expensive but when you see them in the flesh you’ll see why. It’s difficult to explain without you seeing them and we will always take them back if you are not happy at all.

So all in all we know being costly is not going to work for everyone but we were tired of playing on cheap plastic, cardboard and felt and wanted something that had a bit of a wow factor. After all why spend hundreds of pounds on figures and hours of painting to make them look stunning and not have an equally stunning terrain to put them on?

21/09/2011

We have boards in stock which are ready to go at last – the only down side is that we’re waiting for the carry cases to arrive to put them in However if you are interested in some custom made boards drop us a line and we can work out a quote for you. As these will take a little time to produce the carry cases will by with us by then and we can put your new boards inside.

Postage

Having looked at our postage costs we thought that small items were quite expensive to ship. Our courier works out costs on weight with items up to 1kg costing £5 which is a lot for a small item. This has been remedied!! We have added additional categories for postage so that small items can be shipped for much less so the cash saved can go towards a well deserved beer or whatever essential gaming beverage you prefer.
